    EDUCATION LAW

Doherty, Wallace has strong knowledge and deep experience in providing legal advice and representation to parents and to some of the region's most repected public, private, and independent schools.

Because schools manage employees; craft and implement governance policies; buy, sell and build; and - above all - teach and care for children, all schools need legal counsel. The firm also represents parents regarding special education, discrimination and disciplinary matters.

The firm's school law attorneys, two of whom are former teachers, are experienced in the litigation process and can represent clients in court and before administrative agencies and arbitrators.

The issues which the firm's education attorneys regularly address include: student discipline and student rights, including drafting student handbooks; special education laws, Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act; student records and confidentiality issues; employment issues, including personnel actions and discrimination claims; litigation of matters in state and federal court; governance and policy issues; contracts, intellectual property and other business issues; and staff training and professional development on legal matters.
