    EMPLOYMENT

Doherty, Wallace provides legal counsel in connection with any issue or conflict that arises out of the employment relationship. The firm represents employers of all sizes and descriptions, from family businesses to Fortune 500 companies; from local colleges and municipalities to multinational corporations.

Doherty, Wallace has extensive experience in defending employment-related litigation, such as wrongful termination; age, disability, and gender discrimination; and sexual harassment complaints. The firm’s trial attorneys work to resolve such disputes in a variety of forums, including state and federal courts, arbitration and mediation proceedings, and hearings before administrative agencies, such as the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.

The firm helps employers create peaceful and productive workplaces by providing practical, day-to-day counsel on employment issues. The firm, for example, helps write legally-sound employment handbooks; reviews employment practices and policies in order to define and remedy potential problems; and keeps clients current on changes in employment law.

Doherty, Wallace primarily represents employers but, barring any conflict of interest, does represent individual employees. This provides a balanced understanding of the issues on both sides of employment disputes, broadening the firm’s perspective and strengthening the quality of counsel it provides.

The firm prepares deferred compensation and stock option plans and other compensation agreements.

The firm represents employees in connection with many different types of workers’ compensation claims, including complex cases involving, for example, post traumatic stress disorder or lifelong disability.
