The younger founding partners, Fred Pillsbury and Bob Murphy, both served in the Pacific in World War II. Fred Pillsbury, in fact, was offered a job in Hawaii after the war, but chose instead to return to New England's less hospitable climate to complete his studies at Harvard Law School; he went on to become a Massachusetts Superior Court judge, a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and one of the premier trial attorneys in the Commonwealth. Bob Murphy, who graduated from Yale Law School, is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a recognized authority on taxation and estate planning.
