11/5/18 - Associate Anjali Shankar will participate in a presentation entitled "Non-Compete Agreements: Are They Now Dead in Massachusetts?" The presentation will be part of a series organized by the Hampden County Bar Association and will take place at 1:00 PM in the Commissioner's Room of the Roderick L. Ireland Courthouse in Springfield, MA.

11/2/18 - Associate Rebecca Thibault presented to college student entrepreneurs on the legal requirements and other considerations of business entity formation at the Grinspoon, Garvey & Young Entrepreneurship Conference held at the MassMutual Center.

9/30/18 -  Associates Anjali Shankar and Erin Meehan participated in the Hampden County Bar Association "Race Judicata" 5k run/walk for the benefit of the Children's Law Project and the Col. Archer B. Battista Veteran's Scholarship Fund, where Erin finished first among female runners for the second year in a row! Congratulations Erin!

6/1/18 - Associates Rebecca Thibault and Anjali Shankar participated in a presentation on "Marijuana in the Workplace and Beyond - the Massachusetts Marijuana Laws" for the Hampden County Bar Association.

1/7/18 - Doherty Wallace was proud to sponsor the Boston Bruins Alumni  vs. Western Mass All Stars hockey game to benefit Camp Sunshine, a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Partner Barry Ryan participated in the game as a member of the Western Mass All Stars team, as well!

12/20/17 - Doherty Wallace held its annual holiday fundraising auction and raised $3,620 for Toy for Joy. As it has every year for the past 18 years, Doherty Wallace made the donation to Toy for Joy in memory of former colleague Robin Morris - bringing the total amount that Doherty Wallace has raised for Toy for Joy to over $40,000!

12/3/17 - Doherty Wallace was proud to once again support the Hot Chocolate Run to benefit Safe Passage!

9/23/17 - Doherty Wallace was proud to sponsor Look Memorial Park's 2nd annual Pedalmotion for Locomotion fundraiser to help raise funds for the Look Park train! Associate Rebecca Thibault captained the firm-sponsored pedal boat in the race to support the Park's train, which over 50,000 children and individuals enjoy every year. Way to go, Rebecca!

6/2/17 - Associate Anjali Shankar was elected Secretary of the New Lawyers Section of the Hampden County Bar Association.

11/29/16 - Doherty Wallace was profiled in BusinessWest.

11/21/16 - Partner Michael Callan was sworn in as a judge in the Superior Court, followed by a local ceremony in Springfield on November 22, 2016. Congratulations Mike!

11/12/16 - Associate Angelina Stafford presented a seminar on choice of entity and business considerations for start-ups at the Center for Women and Enterprise.

7/1/16 - Associate Angelina Stafford has joined the board of directors for the Association of Community Living, Inc., a Springfield-based organization that creates opportunities, builds relationships, and improves the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families.

6/11/16 - Associate Angelina Stafford presented at a seminar on estate and special needs planning techniques and considerations at Jericho (The Bureau for Exceptional Children) in Holyoke. The seminar was sponsored by Making Healthy Connections.

4/19/16 - Associate Jesse Belcher-Timme has been named a member of the 2016 class of "40 under Forty" by BusinessWest in recognition of his professional accomplishments, service to his clients, and contributions to his community. Jesse was honored with the other award recipients at the Log Cabin on June 16th. Congratulations, Jesse!

3/8/16 - Associate Rebecca Thibault presented to business entrepreneurs on the topic of legal considerations for new business owners. The presentation was part of a workshop series sponsored by the Center for Women & Enterprise and was held in Springfield at the headquarters of Valley Venture Mentors.

2/24/16 - Partner Michele Ouimet-Rooke was unanimously confirmed by the Governor's Council as a judge in the Springfield District Court. Congratulation Attorney Ouimet-Rooke!

1/26/16- Associate Rebecca Thibault presented at the Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture (CISA) Winter Workshop Series at the Kittredge Center at Holyoke Community College. The workshop focused on legal requirements for farm businesses, and Rebecca spoke about legal issues and employment law concerns relevant to farmers and their businesses.

1/1/16 - Attorney Michael S. Schneider has been named a new Shareholder of the Firm.

12/6/15- Doherty Wallace continued its longtime support (10+ years!) of the Hot Chocolate Run for Safe Passage by again sponsoring the organization's top fundraising event. Attorneys and staff from the firm also participated in the walk and run. 

11/12/15 - Attorney David J, Martel received the Pro Bono Publico Award from Community Legal Aid in recognition of his legal aid work in western Massachusetts. Congratulations Attorney Martel!

10/27/15 - Associate Angelina Stafford presented a seminar for the CPE Forum on estate planning issues with a focus on preserving and distributing digital assets, as well as planning for disability through achieving a better life experience (ABLE) accounts and supplemental needs trusts. The CPE Forum provides continuing education programs for CPAs and the Greater Springfield business community.

10/1/15 - Doherty, Wallace celebrated the careers of four Shareholders, Paul S. Doherty, Philip J. Callan, Jr., Robert L. Leonard, and David J. Martel, with a dinner and reception at the Fort Restaurant in Springfield.

9/15/15 - Doherty, Wallace has been a loyal supporter and sponsor of the Springfield Public Forum for many years. This year, DWPM sponsored a spirited conversation between political analysts David Brooks and Mark Shields. Please check the Forum's website for more information.

9/11/15 - Attorney Rosemary Crowley presented to the Barnstable County Assessors on real estate tax law issues and the Appellate Tax Board. The presentation consisted of an update on the latest cases, jurisdictional issues, and treatment of conservation land for exemption purposes.

9/2/15 - Attorney David J. Martel and Associate Rebecca M. Thibault are members of the Board of Directors of the Springfield Public Forum which kicked off its 80th year on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 with a talk by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

8/17/15 - Attorney Philip J. Callan, Jr. has been selected by his peers to be included in the 22nd edition of The Best Lawyers in America for his work in the practice of "Personal Injury Litigation - Defendants." Attorney Callan has been recognized in this exclusive selection for the past twenty consecutive years.

8/11/15 - Associate Angelina Stafford's article, "Protecting Digital Assets," was published in BusinessWest. The article addresses the need to include digital assets in any estate plan and steps people can take to protect those assets. Congratulations Attorney Stafford!

7/21/15 - Associate Angelina Stafford joined Elms College as an adjunct professor in the undergraduate and MBA programs.

7/16/15 - Associate Rebecca Thibault joined the board of directors of Girls, Inc. of Holyoke, a non-profit organization leading the way in inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.

6/25/15 - Partner Michele Rooke served as an Appellate Judge for the UCONN School of Law moot court final exam. Attorney Rooke, along with other active practitioners, volunteered her time to review students' briefs and hear oral arguments from the students.

6/24/15 - Attorney William M. Bennett was awarded with the Kent B. Smith Award by the Hampden County Bar Association. The Kent B. Smith Award is given to an outstanding citizen of the legal community in Hampden County who has demonstrated a dedication to the advancement of criminal law. Congratulations Attorney Bennett!

5/22/15 - Associate Karen Chadwell participated in a career fair at Somers Elementary School.

5/6/15 - Associate Karen Chadwell presented a seminar on intellectual property at the Innovators Resource Network at Valley Venture Mentors in Springfield, Massachusetts.

4/8/15 - Attorneys David J. Martel and Rosemary Crowley presented on real estate tax exemptions for charitable organizations at an educational seminar for city and town assessors in Hampden and Hampshire counties.

3/9/15 - Associate Angelina Stafford served as a mentor/coach in the 2015 Teen Leadership Academy program hosted by Girls, Inc. of Holyoke. The Teen Leadership Academy is a 13-week program for high school junior and senior girls that focuses on leadership skill building, workplace preparation, and developing confidence.

1/1/15 - Associate Rebecca Thibault was profiled by Trinity College.

9/1/14 - Associate Jesse W. Belcher-Timme was appointed a Commissioner of the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission for the City of Easthampton.

8/1/14 - Associate Karen K. Chadwell was appointed a member of the School Board of St. Mary's Academy in Longmeadow, Massachusetts.

6/26/14 - Registered Patent Attorney Karen K. Chadwell made a presentation to the Hampden County Bar Association on the topic of "Intellectual Property Issues: Patent, Trademark and Copyright."

6/12/14 - Senior partner Philip J. Callan, Jr. was honored by the Hampden County Bar Association at its annual dinner for 50 years of practice in Hampden County. Congratulations Phil!

3/24/14 - Associates Rebecca Thibault and Angelina Pargoff Stafford and legal assistant Elise Squillante participated in a panel discussion regarding careers in the legal field hosted by Mount Holyoke College.

2/1/14 - Associate Angelina Pargoff Stafford was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Children's Chorus of Springfield.

1/27/14 - Associate Angelina Pargoff Stafford was appointed to the newly-created Young Professionals Committee of the Springfield City Council. The Committee is tasked with helping Springfield develop new ways to attract and retain young professionals.

1/19/14 - Readers of the Republican and expressed their opinion and partner Michele Rooke won "Reader Raves" as "Best Lawyer." Michele will be honored at the Reader Raves Gala on January 28 at the Log Cabin Banquet and Meeting House.

1/17/14 - Partner Michele Rooke received a favorable decision from the Springfield District Court for a local police chief who denied issuance of a firearm license to an unsuitable candidate.

1/14/14 - Associate Jesse W. Belcher-Timme was elected chairman of the Easthampton Planning Board.

1/6/14 - Attorneys David J. Martel and Rosemary Crowley represented the local assessors before the Supreme Judicial Court in the case of New England Forestry Foundation, Inc. v. The Board of Assessors of the Town of Hawley, SJC-11432. The case concerns the tax treatment of conservation property and has proven to be of great interest to assessors, as well as conservation groups.
